Our KS1 programme focuses on establishing strong early foundations while nurturing a love of learning.

At Expert Learners, our KS1 tuition focuses on:

  • Phonics teaching alongside structured phonics screening practice.
  • Weekly spelling tests to support early writing skills.
  • Reading sessions to develop fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary enrichment.
  • Mathematics with a focus on number skills, arithmetic, and early reasoning.
  • Weekly homework that is carefully marked, with clear feedback and gaps addressed.
  • Small group teaching to maximise engagement and support.
  • Personalised learning tailored to each child’s developmental stage.

Follwing the intial assessment, all children are assessed every 8 weeks, allowing us to track progress accurately, celebrate achievements, and set clear personal learning targets. This ensures teaching remains focused, purposeful, and responsive to individual needs.
